SPENNYMOOR MURAL FESTIVAL
Spennymoor mural festival took place during the summer in 2023/2024, it was the first of its kind in the north east
Founded on principles of mentoring, we wanted to bring amazing murals to our town, but most importantly, we wanted bring the community along with us.
We did this through a series of free workshops with artists, schools, community groups in the run up to a week of mural art.
By making mural painting accessible to all, we allow those who wouldn’t usually think of themselves as artists to enter the world of art, and contribute to the brightening of where they live.
Spennymoor will always be the birthplace of our mural festival, but we are quickly growing into something portable and powerful…
In 2025 we brought our expertise to Hartlepool Mural Festival, in partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council.
Engaging with community groups, schools, public and private spaces, we worked with: Northern School of Art, START charity, Hartlepool Rovers, Throston Youth Centre
So far, we’ve painted 4 murals across Hartlepool, rooted in consultation, workshops, and the voices of local people.
