The giro 📝

Do you want support to paint a mural?

Apply for the Giro.

The Giro is a commission by CYAN, funding murals by artists in the North East of England.

From our expertise in delivering murals, we commission murals to help artists continue working, build their portfolios, or try something new.

You don’t have to be a mural artist to apply for The Giro!

Applications are always open, and one Giro is awarded every 3 months.

Painting a mural can be a complicated process. With the Giro, we are formalising our support to artists that want to paint murals, and experience the whole process.

The Giro gives support in all areas of mural painting, including:

  • The design process

  • Choosing the right tools and materials

  • Sourcing a wall that is legal to paint

  • Painting the design itself

One of our walls in Spennymoor, painted by previous Giro awardees.
